    Why are my CVM-C4 multimeters reporting a communication error on my computer after working for three months?

    • Verify Termination: Ensure the last device in the RS-485 chain has a termination resistor (typically 120 ohms) if the cable run is long. Without this, signal reflections can cause intermittent or total communication failure.
    • Check Modbus IDs: Verify that each CVM-C4 still has a unique Modbus address. If a device reset to factory defaults, it might be conflicting with another unit.
    • PowerStudio / SCADA Settings: Since you are using a computer for recording, ensure your software (such as PowerStudio) hasn't had a port configuration change or that the RS-485 to TCP/USB converter hasn't failed.
