The NDI 5-in-1 Multi-Function Stud Finder is a versatile tool designed for accurate detection of studs, metal, and live AC wires behind walls, floors, and ceilings. It also integrates a laser distance meter and a laser liner for various measurement and alignment tasks. This manual provides detailed instructions for safe and effective operation of your device.

This device combines five essential functions:

2. Enstalasyon

2.1. Unboxing ak Inisyal Enspeksyon

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the product's packing list are present and undamaged. The package typically includes the main unit, a user manual, and 3 AAA batteries.

2.2. Enstalasyon batri

The device requires 3 AAA batteries for operation. To install the batteries:

3. Operasyon Enstriksyon

3.1. General Controls and Display

The device features an LCD screen for displaying information and several buttons for control:

• Detection Button (MEAS): Located on the side, press and hold to start detection in detection mode, or to turn on the laser and initiate measurement in laser distance mode.

The LCD screen displays the detection object, signal indication, distance data, angle, laser marking duration, and distance measurement results.

3.2. Detection Mode (Stud, Metal, AC Live Wire)

In detection mode, the device can locate hidden objects behind surfaces. Ensure the device is calibrated before use by placing it flat against the surface and pressing the detection button until calibration is complete.

3.2.1. Metal Detection

To detect metal objects (ferromagnetic like steel bars or non-magnetic like copper tubes):

1. Switch to metal detection mode using the Up/Down selection buttons.
2. Gently stick the device to the tested surface.
3. After hearing a "beep" sound, slowly move the device forward.
4. Continue to move forward when the signal bar is full.
5. Move in the opposite direction until the signal bar becomes smaller.
6. Once again, the signal bar will fill and buzz, indicating the position of the metal object and its properties (ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic).

3.2.2. AC Live Wire Detection

To detect energized AC live wires:

1. Switch to AC live wire detection mode.
2. Gently stick the device to the tested surface.
3. After hearing a "beep" sound, slowly move the device forward.
4. Continue to move forward when the signal bar is full.
5. Move in the opposite direction until the signal bar becomes smaller.
6. Once again, the signal bar will fill and buzz, indicating the location of the AC live wire.
7. Shift back and forth repeatedly to obtain more accurate results.

3.2.3. Stud/Joist Finder

To detect wooden studs or joists:

1. Switch to joist detection mode.
2. Gently stick the device to the tested surface.
3. After hearing a "beep" sound, slowly move the device forward.
4. The signal bar will fill and buzz, indicating the position of the stud.
5. Shift back and forth repeatedly to obtain more accurate results and pinpoint the edges and center of the stud.

3.3. Laser Distance Meter Mode

This mode allows for precise distance measurements.

• Switching Measurement Modes: Short press the Up selection button to cycle through measurement modes: Length, Area, Volume, Trigonometric height measurement, Double trigonometric height measurement, and Trigonometric half height measurement.
• Switching Ranging Benchmark: Long press the Up selection button to switch between Front reference and Rear reference.
• Switching Measurement Unit: Long press the Down selection button to switch between Metric and Imperial units.
• Measurement Button (MEAS):
  • Short press to turn on the laser, then short press again to start the measurement and display the result.
  • Long press to continuously measure and dynamically display the measurement results.
  • Long press and hold again to stop continuous measurement.

3.4. Laser Liner Mode

The laser liner projects horizontal or vertical lines for alignment tasks.

• Line Duration Switching: In laser marking mode, short press the Up selection button to switch between 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or 0 minutes (laser line off).
• Line Marking Mode Switching: Short press the Down selection button to switch between Horizontal + Vertical, Horizontal only, or Vertical only laser lines.
• Angle Display Mode Switching: Short press the Power button to switch between Horizontal angle (H) and Vertical angle (U) display modes.

To ensure the laser line is horizontal, gently attach the device to the wall and switch to the vertical angle (U) display mode. Fine-tune the angle to 0°, indicating that the laser line is horizontal. This verifies that the target is level.
