5. Operating the Smoke Alarm
5.1 LED Ring Indicators
The LED ring on the alarm provides visual status indications:

5.3 Bouton Tès-Silans
The large button on the front of the alarm serves multiple functions:
- Tès: Press and hold the button to test the alarm's functionality. The alarm will sound and the voice alert will activate. Perform this test weekly.
- Silans: Press the button to temporarily silence nuisance alarms (e.g., from cooking smoke). The alarm will silence for a short period, typically 8-10 minutes, before resetting.
- Silans Chirps: Temporarily silences low battery or end-of-life chirps for up to 24 hours (maximum 7 days).
5.4 Kidde App Features
When connected to Wi-Fi, the Kidde app provides enhanced control and monitoring:

Test your smoke alarm weekly by pressing and holding the Test-Hush button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the alarm's electronics, battery, and horn are working.

Dust and debris can accumulate in the sensing chamber, potentially causing nuisance alarms or reducing sensitivity. Clean your alarm at least once a month:
- Remove the alarm from its mounting bracket.
- Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the alarm's exterior and around the sensing chamber openings.
- Alternatively, use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust.
- Reinstall the alarm and test it.
6.3 Enfòmasyon sou batri
The Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm features a 10-year sealed lithium battery. This battery is designed to last the entire lifespan of the alarm and is not replaceable. When the alarm reaches its end-of-life, it will chirp and announce "Replace Alarm". At this point, the entire unit must be replaced.
