The fuel tank cap cable operates passively. Its primary function is to keep the fuel cap tethered to the vehicle when removed for refueling. Simply remove the fuel cap as usual, and the cable will prevent it from being dropped or left behind. When finished, replace the fuel cap and close the fuel filler door.
