Enstalasyon ak Preparasyon Inisyal

1. Enstalasyon batri

The GM100 requires three AAA batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries into the compartment located on the back of the device.

  • Open the battery cover on the rear of the unit.
  • Mete 3 pil AAA, obsève mak polarite yo (+/-).
  • Fèmen kouvèti batri a byen.

2. Koneksyon Sond

Connect the ultrasonic probe to the designated ports on the top of the GM100 unit. Ensure the connectors are firmly seated.

3. Applying Coupling Fluid

A coupling fluid (gel) is essential for accurate measurements. It facilitates the transmission of ultrasonic waves between the probe and the material being measured. Apply a small amount of coupling fluid to the surface of the material where the probe will be placed.

  • Asire w sifas mezi a pwòp epi san debri.
  • Apply a small drop of coupling gel to the surface.
  • Press the probe firmly onto the gelled surface to ensure good contact.

Enstriksyon Operasyon

1. Power On/Off

Peze a Pouvwa bouton (Pouvwa bouton icon) to turn the device on. The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

2. Kalibrasyon

Before taking measurements, it is recommended to calibrate the device using the built-in metal calibration block or the included 4mm calibration block.

  • Apply coupling fluid to the calibration block.
  • Press the probe firmly onto the calibration block.
  • Peze a CAL bouton (CAL button icon) to perform zero-point calibration. The device will automatically adjust to correct system errors.

3. Measuring Thickness

Once calibrated, apply coupling fluid to the material surface and press the probe firmly against it. The thickness reading will appear on the LED backlit screen. The device measures in both inches and millimeters.

4. Adjusting Sound Velocity (VEL)

Different materials have different sound velocities. For accurate measurements, adjust the sound velocity setting to match the material being tested. The GM100 allows adjustment from 1000 to 9999 m/s.

  • Peze a VEL bouton (VEL button icon) to enter sound velocity adjustment mode.
  • Sèvi ak flèch yo (Moute icon flèch / Desann flèch icon) to increase or decrease the value.
  • Refer to the material sound velocity table below for common materials.
  • The device also supports a reverse measurement ability: if you have a material sample of known thickness but unknown type, you can input the thickness, and the unit will derive the sound velocity, allowing you to identify the material or measure other items of the same type.

5. Data Storage and Recall

The GM100 can store up to 10 thickness values and 12 sound velocity values.

  • To store a reading, press the STORE bouton (STORE button icon).
  • To recall stored data, use the Kle Chanjman Fonksyon (Function Switch Key icon) and arrow keys to navigate through the memory slots.

Antretyen

1. Netwayaj

After each use, wipe the probe and the device's surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove any residual coupling fluid or dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

2. Depo

Store the GM100 in its protective case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

3. Coupling Fluid

Ensure you have an adequate supply of ultrasonic coupling gel. The device will not function correctly without it. Replacements can be sourced from reputable suppliers.

Depanaj

If you encounter issues with your GM100, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Pa gen lekti oswa lekti iregilye:
    • Ensure sufficient coupling fluid is applied and there are no air bubbles.
    • Verify the probe is pressed firmly and evenly against the surface.
    • Check if the material surface is too rough or has non-parallel top and bottom surfaces (see Figure 5 reminders).
    • Confirm the material is an ultrasonic wave conductor.
  • Lekti ki pa kòrèk:
    • Perform a calibration using the included calibration block.
    • Verify the correct sound velocity for the material is selected.
    • Ensure the material is not at an extremely high temperature, which can affect readings (see Figure 5 reminders).
  • Aparèy la pa limen:
    • Tcheke enstalasyon pil yo epi asire w pil yo pa fin itilize. Ranplase yo si sa nesesè.
  • Sound Velocity Readout Issues:
    • While the device is designed to allow sound velocity measurement for unknown materials, ensure you are following the specific steps outlined in the operating instructions for this advanced function.
