1. Plis paseview
The First Alert SCO5CN is a battery-operated combination smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detector designed to provide comprehensive protection for your home. It integrates two essential sensors into a single unit: a photoelectric sensor for detecting smoke from smoldering fires and an advanced electrochemical sensor for detecting carbon monoxide. This dual functionality helps minimize false alarms while ensuring reliable detection of both threats. The unit features a loud 85-decibel siren and distinct alarm sounds and indicator lights to differentiate between smoke and carbon monoxide warnings.

3. Operasyon Enstriksyon
3.1 Tès/Silans bouton
The large 'Test/Silence' button on the front of the detector serves two primary functions:
- Tès: Press and hold the button to test the unit's electronic circuitry, horn, and battery. The alarm will sound, and the indicator lights will flash.
- Silans: Press the button to temporarily silence nuisance alarms (e.g., from cooking smoke) or the low battery chirp. The alarm will reset after a few minutes if the condition that caused the alarm has cleared.

Figure 6: The detector with the 'Test/Silence' button clearly visible, indicating its dual functionality for testing and temporarily silencing alarms.
3.2 Alarm Signals and Indicator Lights
The detector uses distinct audible and visual signals to communicate different conditions:
- Alam lafimen: A series of three loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'Smoke' indicator light will flash.
- Alam monoksid kabòn: A series of four loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'CO' indicator light will flash.
- Avètisman batri ki ba: A single chirp approximately once every minute. The 'Power' indicator light may also flash.
- Avètisman sou fen lavi: Three chirps every minute, indicating the unit needs to be replaced.
4. Antretyen
Regular maintenance ensures the continued reliability of your First Alert SCO5CN detector.
4.1 Tès chak semèn
Test your detector weekly by pressing and holding the 'Test/Silence' button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly.

4.2 Ranplasman batri
When the detector emits a low battery chirp (one chirp per minute), replace both AA batteries immediately. Use the easy-access battery compartment for quick changes without removing the unit from its mounting bracket.
4.3 Netwayaj
Clean your detector at least once a month to remove dust and debris that could interfere with its operation. Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently clean the vents and openings. Do not paint the detector.
4.4 End-of-Life Replacement
The detector has a limited lifespan. When the unit reaches its end-of-life (indicated by three chirps every minute), it must be replaced with a new one. This typically occurs after 10 years from the date of manufacture.
